This beautiful fern frond on the front of this pendant has been achieved by imprinting a real fern frond into sterling silver clay. The result is the delicate fern vein pattern onto the surface of the silver. Truly unique since no two fronds are exactly the same.

Sterling silver metal clay consists of sterling silver particles suspended in an organic binder.  After forming, drying and refining the piece is fired in a kiln.  During this time the binder burns off and the result is a piece that is .925 sterling silver. After firing it has been tumbled to bring out the silver shine.  Lastly it has been dipped in an oxidizing agent and the piece has been polished by hand to bring out the beautiful details of the textures.
