This golden rain square pendant is made from impressing a leaf from a Golden Rain Tree into sterling silver metal clay.  A patina was applied to the pendant to highlight the lovely veining of the leaf.

Sterling silver metal clay consists of sterling silver particles suspended in an organic binder.  After forming, drying and refining the piece is fired in a kiln.  During this time the binder burns off and the result is a piece that is .925 sterling silver. After firing it has been tumbled to bring out the silver shine.  Lastly it has been dipped in an oxidizing agent and the piece has been polished by hand to bring out the beautiful details of the textures.
